When I first started studying Maxwell’s Equations, I was always intrigued by its mathematical finesse. How could someone think of that? Today we take them for granted and we sometimes forget how amazing they are and what a genius the guy was. In my view, James Maxwell should be with, if not above, Einstein and Newton among the greatest physicists to ever live, but outside our field people seldom know who Maxwell was.

EDI CON China 2018, a conference and exhibition that brings together engineers working on high frequency analog and high speed digital designs, taking place March 20-22, 2018 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, announces the finalists in the first EDI CON Innovation Awards. This award program honors products that have had the greatest impact on the industry this year, providing the tools necessary to bring on the next generation of electronic design innovations. Winners to be announced at the exhibition on March 20.
This webcast presented by Richard Mellitz, Distinguished Engineer at Samtec, proposes using a pulse echo for time domain reflectometry (TDR) rather the commonly used step function echo. The echoed pulse response of a single symbol is convolved with the modulation signal levels to produce an effective reflection coefficient metric at a specified bit error ratio (BER). A conversion to dB results in an effective return loss (ERL) in more familiar return loss units. View the presentation to learn more.
