The 2026 IEEE International Symposium on EMC and Signal/Power Integrity (IEEE EMC+SIPI) returned to Dallas, Texas, August 3-7. It’s been a while. The last time the event was here was 1993, although Austin, Texas has played host numerous times in between.
Three renowned speakers shared their expert knowledge and experience within the EMC and SIPI ecosystem. Keynote speakers and their topics were:
- Brian M. Kent recounted the gripping tale of how an errant missile was accidentally released aboard the USS Forrestal in 1967, and ignited a fire and a series of secondary explosions. While the extensive historical investigation ultimately blamed the event on EMI from the on-board AN/SPS-43VHF search radar, Dr. Kent’s presentation was aimed at correcting the record regarding the accident’s root cause.
- Howard Heck of TE Connectivity discussed the signal integrity challenges that the industry faces as we scale pluggable I/O interfaces to 448G. His presentation described an approach that overcomes these challenges with existing channel structures.
- Hans G. Schantz, who literally wrote the book on “Fundamentals and Origins of Electromagnetism,” examined the relationship between electromagnetism and quantum mechanics in his talk titled “How Electromagnetism & Quantum Mechanics Work & Where Physics Went Wrong”.
In addition to these interesting keynote addresses, the Symposium featured many technical programs, including the Clayton R. Paul Global EMC University and, now in its third year, the Global SIPI University. Both programs offered technical lectures from industry and academic leaders as well as practical demonstrations.
It was both a privilege and a pleasure to meet Benoit Derat, the Technical Program Chair for IEEE EMC + SIPI 2026. We are also excited to announce that he will be joining Signal Integrity Journal as a Technical Advisor, following several years as a valued member of the Editorial Advisory Board. We look forward to continuing to work with him on future show and article collaborations.
The exhibition included just under 100 booths – below is a summary of the companies we visited. In addition, we created a photo gallery of the booths we visited and friends we met.
Absolute EMC showcased a wide range of advanced EMC test solutions from their technology partners. A key highlight was the Montena POG system for MIL-STD-461, CS114, CS115, and CS116 testing, using a single BCI injection probe for all three test methods to simplify setup and improve repeatability. The system can generate up to 17 CS116 test frequencies, significantly expanding coverage beyond the six frequencies defined in the standard. Also featured was the new Haefely ONYX Vision ESD simulator, incorporating a color touchscreen and integrated camera for capturing ESD test locations and streamlining test documentation and reporting.
At EMC+SIPI 2026, Ametek showcased its two flagship brands, CTS and AR, with a strong focus on Aerospace & Defense applications. From an EMC standards perspective, CTS highlighted its test equipment for MIL and aircraft power quality, EFT/Burst, surge, and conducted RF immunity - supporting compliance across military and avionics platforms. From an electronic warfare perspective, AR's RF power amplifiers proved their versatility beyond the EMC lab, delivering the high power and precision demanded by EW systems. With decades of combined leadership, CTS and AR remain trusted names engineers rely on for EMC testing and RF power, in defense and beyond.
Cevians is a trusted provider of rugged display, optical and Night Vision Imaging System solutions for aerospace, defense, and mission-critical applications. With over 40 years of experience and a high level of vertical integration, they design and manufacture custom TFT-LCD modules, rugged display assemblies, optical systems for military aviation, ground vehicles, naval platforms, and mission systems. Their products are engineered to operate reliably in demanding environments and support stringent military and aerospace requirements, including EMI/EMC-sensitive applications.
Copper Mountain Technologies highlighted their latest vector network analyzer solutions for EMC, Signal Integrity, and Power Integrity applications. Their key demo featured the new SN0904 4-port, 9 GHz VNA measuring one twisted pair within a CAT-5 Ethernet cable, showcasing fast, accurate characterization of high-speed interconnects. They also demonstrated the SC0902 VNA, covering 9 kHz to 9 GHz, whose exceptionally low start frequency makes it ideal for Signal Integrity and Power Integrity measurements. Looking beyond 9 GHz, Copper Mountain Technologies also offers the BFX-02 extender base unit, which drives frequency extenders to 1 THz without tying up an expensive VNA, providing a flexible and cost-effective path to sub-millimeter wave measurements.
Cornes RF Engineering provides total-solution RF, microwave and mmWave measurement systems. They offer: EMI design rule checker & suppression support software, anechoic chambers, shielded rooms and RF absorbers, advanced positioners, turnkey EMC, 5G OTA, CATR & NFFF test solutions. Headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, they serve high-tech sectors such as automotive, telecom, and aerospace and defense.
CPI TMD Technologies Ltd showcased its instrumentation amplifiers (high-power RF and microwave amplifiers) for EMC, HIRF and military testing, electronic warfare simulation and scientific applications. CPI specializes in the highest-power TWT-based amplifiers, which can be dual, quad, and octal combined. With an extensive set of SSPA amplifiers to satisfy lower frequencies, CPI's position in the market is expanding.
Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA revealed the world we live in through realistic simulation of product, nature & life. ESDEMC Technology LLC, established in 2011, specializes in advanced EMC and ESD measurement systems. ETS-Lindgren designs, manufactures, and installs EMC/EMI, RF/Microwave, MIMO/OTA test and measurement systems and components. Their patented technology has resulted in many milestones: the world’s first CTIA Authorized Test Lab and the first oversized RF shielded sliding door for full vehicle test chambers. Their full line of EMP/IEMI products is the first to be independently tested and certified. Services include calibration at their A2LA-accredited calibration lab.
Gauss Instruments, Inc. featured their 1 GHz full-compliance real-time quasi-peak measurement according to the CISPR 16-1-1 standard. Highlights included fully automated EMC measurements using the TDEMI Ultimate Real-time Receiver in conjunction with the Automation Software Suite EMI64k - reducing the overall test time of your fully CISPR and ANSI compliant measurements from several hours to just a few minutes, and increasing the test and data quality of your measurements both at the same time.
Intertek comprises one of the largest global networks of EMC Testing Labs and provides the capacity, proximity and engineering resources to streamline your EMC Compliance Testing process for any market. Intertek is a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide. Their network of more than 1,000 labs and offices in more than 100 countries delivers innovative and custom assurance testing, inspection, and certification solutions for their customers.
Keysight demonstrated two solutions addressing key challenges in modern EMC testing. The N9048B PXE EMI Receiver with N9048BSPU Stream Processing Unit provides real-time, gapless 1 GHz wideband time-domain scanning, enabling continuous capture of transient and intermittent EMI events. The 1 GHz FFT bandwidth allows the CISPR C/D bands to be observed in a single acquisition, with spectrum, time-domain, and spectrogram views supporting EMI troubleshooting. Keysight also demonstrated the DH0150A wireless coexistence test solution, which automates ANSI C63.27-based testing with waveform libraries and automated sequences, providing repeatable and scalable test scenarios for wireless devices operating in crowded RF environments.
Langer EMV-Technik GmbH develops and manufactures measurement and test solutions for EMC. The product portfolio supports pre-compliance testing from the system level and PCB level down to the IC level, covering emission and immunity topics as well as radiated and conducted measurements. With near-field probes, pre-amplifiers, EMC test systems, IC test solutions, and practical measurement technology, Langer EMV enables engineers to analyze EMC effects, identify root causes, and successfully improve the electromagnetic robustness of electronic products.
LUMILOOP is a German manufacturer of laser-powered electronic sensors. RIGOL TECHNOLOGIES USA demonstrated how its test and measurement portfolio extends beyond oscilloscopes with an expanding range of RF and microwave solutions, led by the new vector network analyzers. The DNA6000 and DNA5000 VNAs cover frequencies from 5 kHz to 26.5 GHz, with up to 127 dB of dynamic range and maximum output power of +10 dBm. The series is available in 2-port and 4-port configurations, including the low-profile DNA6000-R, designed for rack-mounted and automated test systems. Also featured was the new RSA6000 Series real-time spectrum analyzer, offering frequency coverage from 5 kHz to 26.5 GHz, a DANL as low as –163 dBm, and up to 200 MHz of real-time analysis bandwidth. RIGOL also shared plans to introduce upcoming compact VNA and spectrum analyzer solutions designed to address a broader range of benchtop and portable testing needs across multiple price-performance levels.

Teledyne LeCroy showcased solutions for EMC, signal integrity, power integrity, and interconnect characterization. Demonstrations highlighted EMC/EMI troubleshooting and compliance testing, PDN analysis, eye diagram measurements, signal integrity validation, and S-parameter extraction. Throughout the event, attendees engaged with Teledyne LeCroy engineers to discuss real-world measurement challenges and explore practical approaches to improving test accuracy and design performance.
TESTUPS offers turnkey EMC Chamber and Test Laboratory solutions. Fulfilling in-house EMC testing needs of product developers, manufacturers, and independent laboratories with EMC expertise. When a turnkey EMC lab is offered, on-site commissioning and training are also offered. TESTUPS is also offering on-site services for the EMC chambers to upgrade, refurbish, relocate or validate them. Increasing current and frequency limits of EMC labs by replacing the EMI filters and RF absorbers.
