Teledyne LeCroy today announced the extension of their patented CrossSyncTM PHY technology to support the PCI Express® 6.0 specification. The new PCIe® 6.0 Card Electromechanical interposer (PE6117UIA-X) is used with Teledyne LeCroy’s WaveMaster® 8000HD or LabMaster oscilloscopes and CrossSync PHY software to provide the industry’s only cross-layer (physical layer to protocol) analysis solution for PCIe 6.0.

PCIe 6.0 is the first PCI Express technology to use multi-level signaling (PAM4). Additionally, the data transfer speed is twice that provided by PCIe 5.0. The new, PAM4 signaling and faster data transfer speeds create significant new test complexities and interoperability problems for developers, especially those designing first-generation PCIe 6.0 systems and devices. Device and interoperability problems often arise in the electrical domain, protocol interaction or a combination of the two. CrossSync PHY technology provides engineers the complete picture when testing the PCIe interface. By linking the oscilloscope with a protocol analyzer, CrossSync PHY technology permits the oscilloscope and protocol analyzer traces to be viewed, navigated, and analyzed in a time-correlated way during a single system test—a capability that is unique to Teledyne LeCroy. The functions of the oscilloscope and protocol analyzer are seamlessly merged, and PCIe 6.0 link testing is simplified. This capability allows problems to be quickly identified in a live link, speeding time-to-market for these new devices.

The new interposer includes probing points for:

  • reference clock,
  • sideband signal,
  • power rail voltage and current monitoring,
  • data signals for the protocol analyzer.
Teledyne LeCroy will be showcasingCrossSync PHY technology for PCIe 6.0 for the first time at Teledyne LeCroy’s booth #1249 on the DesignCon exhibition floor from January 31 to February 1.
