Title: Modeling Transmission Lines and Board Design Using a Unified Simulation Approach

Date: February 10, 2021

Time: 8am PT / 11am ET

Sponsored by: Avishtech

Presented by: Dr. Tarun Amla, Chief Technology Officer and Keshav Amla, Chief Executive Officer

Abstract:
With data rates exceeding 56 Gbps/channel and operating frequencies moving into the mmWave regime for 5G applications, accurate modeling of transmission lines is becoming increasingly important. The lack of accurate models and data leads to costly errors that not only cause long delays but also result in signal Integrity and reliability issues. This increased complexity necessitates a design process that integrates Signal Integrity analysis, stack-up design, material selection, and thermal/mechanical performance and reliability. This webinar highlights the many pitfalls associated with the current process of building multiple revisions of Test Vehicles and outlines a holistic approach to the design process, using Gauss 2D and Gauss Stack from Avishtech’s Gauss suite of products, that would not only provide a Robust design but also shrink the time to market for new technologies.

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Tarun Amla Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Avishtech. Most recently prior to his current role, he served as EVP and Chief Technology Officer for ITEQ Corporation, heading ITEQ’s global Research and Development and Engineering. Tarun’s career in the electronics and electronics materials industry spans more than 25 years, during which time, he has also worked for AlliedSignal, Isola and Shengyi, holding positions of increasing responsibility. Some areas of Tarun’s specific technical expertise include Signal Integrity and Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, Optimization, Computational Mechanics, and Machine Learning. He is a named inventor on more than 11 pending and issued U.S. patents and many more issued and pending foreign patents.

Tarun holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, a Master of Engineering with emphasis on Modeling & Simulation from ASU, an MS in Mechanical Engineering (Computational Mechanics) from Purdue University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University.

Keshav Amla is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Avishtech. Keshav has held research positions at HP Inc., Stanford, Caltech, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, working on diverse topics, ranging from Phonon Transport to Coronal Mass Ejections to Dielectric Properties and has strong expertise in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Science, and Software Development.

Keshav founded the company while still a grad student at Stanford and now works full-time on building Avishtech’s leading-edge software and hardware solutions to the most pressing and valuable engineering problems, driven by the belief that even the most elusive and challenging questions in science and engineering can be answered with enough skill, knowledge, and hard work. Keshav holds a Bachelor of Science with Honor in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech and a Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University and is named inventor on 2 pending and issued US and foreign patents.
