European Conference on Optical Communications Exhibition (ECOC), Europe’s largest optical communications exhibition, has announced the agenda for its popular Market Focus which will feature exclusive presentations focusing on 400G and 800G, fibre for 5G and new markets including 3D sensing.
Selected to reflect the increased need for capable optical networks to accommodate ever higher demands for bandwidth in support of new technologies, the Market Focus topics will provide exclusive updates on trends and developments from around the industry.
The New Markets track will feature topics such as ‘High-Volume applications of 3D sensing in consumer and automotive markets,’ to be delivered by Robert Blum, Intel, alongside network specific topics such as ‘Designing for flexibility and scalable capacity in optical networks’ presented by Andre Richter, General Manager, VPIphotonics.
“We are delighted that Market Focus this year has a new session on new markets, presenting the latest developments within automotive and consumer markets. Attendees can learn how carriers’ fibre deployed for data transmission can be used to measure vehicle speed, density and road conditions,” said Emma Harvey, Commercial Director at Nexus Media Events.
“In addition to this, Market Focus will explore ground-breaking developments including how laser technology developed for telecom and datacom applications can now be deployed for 3D sensing in smartphones.”
The event will be initiated with a talk titled ‘Switch/router pluggable coherent modules for 400G ZR application’ from Radha Nagarajan of Inphi on day one. Sessions including a presentation by Mark Nowell, Cisco, on ‘Leveraging 400 Gbe to enable 800G’ will follow, with Ed Harstead, Nokia, taking to the Market Focus stage to deliver a session on ‘NG PON and 5G’.
Market Focus, sponsored by Inphi, will also feature a range of exclusive presentations for its Dublin audience from speakers from tech industry heavyweights including Intel, Cisco, Huawei and Verizon. Other topics to feature in the line-up include ‘Datacenters: Optics in Cloud Computing’, ‘Fibre Access’, ‘Photonics Integration and Digital Silicon Photonics’, ‘Service and content provider optical transmission’ and ‘Optical Network Agility/Software Defined Networks’.
Day two will include talks from Thomas Liljeberg, Intel, on ‘Integrated Silicon Photonics for Future Datacenter Applications’ and Di Liang, HP Enterprise, on ‘Innovative integrated photonics for green supercomputing’.
The New Markets track will take place during the morning of day three, Wednesday, September 25.
ECOC will take place at the RDS venue in Dublin, Ireland, from Monday, September 23 to Wednesday, September 25.
