Sherman S. Chen is a principal SI/PI engineer at Kandou Bus S.A.. During his career at EMC, Intel, Cisco, and Kandou he has built up a wide range of expertise in board/package/chip level SI/PI design for ICT and computational platforms, with specialties on SI/PI co-simulation, TD/FD modeling coherence, high density & low-cost design. Sherman received his MSEE degree from Zhejiang University, China. His current interest is high speed bus encoding schemes.
Want to know more about the impedance and the encoding schemes adopted by prevailing high-speed I/O (HSIO) standards including PCIe, USB, Thunderbolt, and Ethernet? By looking back at the history of standards, some interesting trends and possible future directions are revealed.
